Earthquake!? What?

Something wrong happened.... Everyone heard about the earthquake that hit Southern Iran and affected parts of the UAE Right? OK..

The tower where I live in was evacuated... but I was sleeping during the evacuation!!!! I live on a very high floor 250 Meters above ground level! and the building staff failed to notify me of the evacuation! They just set off the Fire alarm and sent messages through the hallway speakers.. but that's not enough to wake someone who is sleeping in his Sound Proof room!

What's happening? what if the building collapsed and some people were still inside? who's fault would it be?

On Apr. 25, 2015, its Easter Sunday in San Diego and on a day you'd probably least expect, a 7.2 earthquake.
The epicenter struck Mexicali, Mexico.
Given that the earthquake took place, there were reports of roughly 19 aftershocks ranging from 3.5 - 5.1.
The strong earthquake swayed structures from Los Angeles to Tijuana, killing two people in Mexico,
blacking out metropolitan areas, forcing the entire evacuation of hospitals as well as nursing facilities,
plus prompting a California border area to shut down its downtown area.
People from San Diego as well as Los Angeles to Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas, NV experienced the earthquake on different levels.
This has been among the most powerful earthquakes to hit Southern California in many decades.
The earthquake had been felt the hardest throughout Mexicali.
